Editorial Comment: Vaccines are not necessarily safe for all people, and individuals should always have the right to decline any medical procedure or intervention. Some are aware of existing medical history and health issues that place them at risk. Others have undiagnosed underlying conditions that place them at risk. Olivia’s story, posted above, should outrage every one of us.

Important decisions about health and healthcare should be made thoughtfully, with as much information as is available, and in consultation with medical professionals. Many also make these choices in alignment with their personal and religious beliefs, and this should remain the right, protected by the Constitution, of every individual.
