“The simple step of a courageous individual is not to take part in the lie. One word of truth outweighs the world.” – Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
This year marks the 20th anniversary of 9/11. An entire generation of people who had not yet been been born in 2001 are now young adults. They never knew the horrors of 9/11 or those that followed that terrible day. They know only what they are taught now, and all too often by propagandists and historic revisionists. Those of us who know the truth of 9/11 must never forget. We must always remember. We must share what we lived in the past with the people of today, and the people of the future. This is perhaps more important than ever before.
“Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.” – Jonathan Swift
No one really knows what to believe anymore, and it’s understandable given all the half-truths, no-truths, and outright lies we’ve been told about all concerns COVID. Public trust has suffered terribly. Politicians and public health professionals have lost the confidence of far too many people. The consequences are difficult, and I sincerely believe the consequences have resulted in the deaths of people whose lives might otherwise have been spared and saved. Parents. Grandparents. Aunts. Uncles. Cousins. Brothers. Sisters. Sons. Daughters. Real people.
Masks make the point, and have become the ubiquitous example of a catastrophic public health failure. In the beginning we were told that we did not need to wear masks, that we would not know how to wear masks, and that masks would not work.
Now we’re told that we must wear masks. In fact, we might need to wear multiple layers of masks. The requirements – and enforcement actions – have become so Draconian that people now view the wearing of masks as a submission to tyranny, and those who demand their use as tyrants. The declaration that we now must wear masks is made by the same people who told us at the beginning of the crisis not to wear masks, that we did not need to wear masks, that we would not know how to wear masks, and that masks would not work.
Recently revealed was the “real reason” we were told not to wear masks in the early days of the pandemic – and that “real reason” had nothing to do with the effectiveness of appropriate PPE. The “real reason” was that there was a shortage of PPE.
Seriously, that is an ALL STOP.
This is, in my view, a complete and total disregard for life. My life. Your life. All our lives.
How was it that while dangerous pathogens were actively used in research, our medical capacity to address any public exposure – intentional or unintentional – was so critically limited, and so woefully inadequate? Why was this work allowed in any form or any place?
Masks are just one part of the controversy. Great doubt and heated debates have followed with regard to social distancing, and now vaccines.
The failure to inform us truthfully about the origin and nature and consequences of this virus made “informed consent” utterly impossible. Who among us could be expected to make any reasonable risk assessment absent the truth? We were left without the ability to make choices based in truth for ourselves and our loved ones. All of this is entirely inexcusable.
We are long overdue for a full and transparent investigation, and one should be immediately forthcoming. We must be able to rely on the truthfulness and trustworthiness of the people and institutions entrusted with our public safety and national security. Integrity must be restored.
“Words mean nothing to liberals. They say whatever will help advance their cause at the moment, switch talking points in a heartbeat, and then act indignant if anyone uses the exact same argument they were using five minutes ago.” – Ann Coulter
Editorial Comment When a political movement changes the definitions of words to suit – or to advance forward – an agenda, we should all recognize that they are – at the same time – moving the goal posts of the truth. They do this because truth – for them – is relative. Truth is not based on a universally held belief, nor is it based on provable facts. Truth is, from this point of view, transient, and words mean whatever the Left wants them to mean in the moment. This may seem more an inconvenience than a danger, but very dangerous indeed it is.
